Nature
We allow children to feel nature in daily life, to grow sensitivity by conscious use of space, colour and natural light. Bringing the outside world inside and vice-versa, helps children to connect with natural elements, providing them with ample interactive opportunities.
The block like structures of the building vary in heights and purpose, clustered around a central courtyard. The green courtyard forms the heart of the school where children can play, experiment and feel the comfort of air blowing.
Skylights along with playful windows enable children to always look out and maintain visual connection with the sky and nature. Window sills double as seats and niches, encouraging play.
Light
North facing chimney like skylights funnel down natural light into the classrooms, expanding children’s everyday spatial experience, allowing them to chase light throughout day. The earthy materials are carefully chosen for children to physically feel nature in daily life and activate their senses.
Classrooms are envisioned as open home like spaces which are combined with private nooks, play forts aiding independent, collaborative interactions and encouraging investigation.
The school becomes a transparent space, where children can always see outside and maintain a connect with nature, while also staying within a safe environment.
