We Know What You Want This Season – The Kids Spaces Project Guide!

The world, our country, everywhere we look, it’s a difficult time. Outside the window, on social media, or on the news; nature’s reaction is overwhelming, the informational content is saddening and stressful with the pandemic, lockdown, and suffering of people. We all need to stay productive and healthy, especially during these times. However, we feel like we are running out of creative ideas to keep the kids.

Usually, summertime is magical, with no school, all play, the abundance of memories, and love. Summer is ofen marked by vacations and travels, qualifying as a special time that children (even adults) look forward to all year! It’s different this year around, children are stuck in their houses for over 14 months or their entire lives for COVID babies (born during this time).

Get Your Summer Game On

Ideally, summertime is learning new things, exploring various interests, bonding with family & friends, and having fun. The world seems to have come to a standstill and seems to show slow progress, it is essential to focus on our mental and emotional well-being. Keeping happy is essential to a healthy mind and body. Parents could work with children to create their dreams into reality at home. Speeding raceway bedrooms, a backyard herb garden, or starry night ceilings; there is always an adventure children’s brains embark on when they are connected to their spaces personally.

It’s farfetched to go out to exciting places and travel freely, we can bring the exciting themes and spruce up existing spaces to revamp our environment. It’s time to unleash our inner designers and transform the mundane spaces with different elements that our children like.

Your Signature Touch

Bored of seeing the same walls, ceilings, furniture every day at home. Enhance your home structures with fun elements. Wallpapers, paterns, splashes of colors, images, or cartoon characters are exciting elements that can be incorporated into their bedrooms and other spaces.

You might want to get messy and pick a spot that you and your child paint together. Use masking tapes to create designs on the wall. Dress in your matching paintwork clothes as you splash paint across the wall. Make a day out of it and make this unique & special spot made by you. In case your child is fascinated by Space, go for a ‘Glow in the Dark wall or ceiling’ with some planets, stars, and our Milky way galaxy flying in the wide space using a black background and glow in the dark colors or stickers.

Kids love to mess up the walls, cover them up with a changeable paper roll and create interactive stations for children to engage with space. Litle artists would love to design a space for their artwork. In addition, communicating about the specific space allows them to know the purpose of the space; and possibly reduce your clean-up time! Find out what your and your child’s signature touch is and bring it to your space!

The Children’s Home Edit

Children know what they like, they are clear about what they want and what they don’t. Together, come up with spaces and corners in your homes that you all would like to make more special (it’s best, to begin with, a space that kids would like to change). With minimal effort, create a space that can grow with your children. There so much to do, let’s get started on the

  • Brainstorm different areas that could be a part of your Space Edit Project.
  • Decide a theme that your child loves for space (ask them and help them make decisions) based on the practicality from your end.
  • Gather your materials, tools, mood boards, designs, and calendars.
  • Prepare, Categorize, Create – Decide a purpose for space – Reading & Storytelling, Messy Play, Gardening, Pretend Play, Dressing up, Study Space, Art Space, Photos Corner – The possibilities are endless.

Children’s imagination is a wondrous thing, they can immerse into multiple realities, and the rules of the world they know don’t apply. Their worlds can move between realities where dinosaurs exist in space, and fishes can walk on land. The next blog will have more ideas on the different spaces in more detail!

You might create a photo wall of your favorite moments, add your child’s artwork to the photo wall and display their work with pride. A space for baking goodies together, or a reading corner for the parents in nature where kids can play outdoors. Everybody needs something special in their day. Cooped up inside houses, give it your unique twist, have engaging experiences, bond as families, encourage creativity, organization & planning, and beter understand space, designs, colors, paterns and textures!

It’s a perfect way to relax and take on a long-term project that is productive!
Wave the stress away!
